Garden Ants Make and Appearance

As the warmer climate is now on the way we start to prepare ourselves for the problems about to arise, one problem becoming more common is the Garden Ant. Garden Ants usually start appearing in the early spring months and they are everywhere, they will appear in both homes and buildings usually in search of foods and materials to help build their colonies. Ants are attracted to any foods however they do seem to have a sweet tooth and will instantly flock to sugary items which have been left on surfaces so it is important not to leave anything lying around, ants will also be a pain for keen gardeners as they will eat ripe fruits, such as strawberries, which can be found in most allotments and gardens.

Bed Bugs on the Rise in January

January is a time for fresh starts and what better time to eradicate any pests you may have in your home which you may have been putting off. These cold months bring about all the general household pests and one of the problems homeowners are finding this month is the common Bed Bug.

Bed Bugs have the amazing ability to survive in all temperatures usually by hibernating this is why the problem can appear all year round. Bed Bugs are very small creatures and therefore this gives them the ability to hide in the best places and remain unseen for long periods of time. Bed Bugs can easily enter the home in a variation of ways, from moving around on second hand furniture (which is becoming a more popular way of purchasing expensive household items). Sometimes household pets can bring these bugs into the home or if you are unlucky enough they can also be picked up from yourself without your knowledge.

Rodents at Christmas

December may be the month where Christmas is the hot topic of conversation, however it is important to keep in mind that pests will still be on the prowl even during this month, rats and mice are no exception to this.

December usually sees a drop in temperature across the UK and because of this there is a risk that rats and mice will venture indoors in an attempt to find shelter, warmth and food. The most likely place they will find this is within buildings, whether it be residential or commercial, and once they have found adequate shelter they can be an issue to remove. Because of the health risks associated with mice and rats and the fear of the damage they can cause it is important to eradicate this problem as soon as possible.
