Rodents at Christmas

December may be the month where Christmas is the hot topic of conversation, however it is important to keep in mind that pests will still be on the prowl even during this month, rats and mice are no exception to this.

December usually sees a drop in temperature across the UK and because of this there is a risk that rats and mice will venture indoors in an attempt to find shelter, warmth and food. The most likely place they will find this is within buildings, whether it be residential or commercial, and once they have found adequate shelter they can be an issue to remove. Because of the health risks associated with mice and rats and the fear of the damage they can cause it is important to eradicate this problem as soon as possible.

Winter problem of Cluster Flies

Cluster Flies are a common problem for almost all homes and businesses during the winter months, in the last month alone we have carried out over 400 Cluster Fly treatments throughout the UK, the reason for this being the exceptionally mild weather conditions and these infestations could continue until the first frost sets in.

Cluster Fly populations are known to increase in numbers dependent upon the climate, if the summer months are warmer and longer then there is a great risk that these flies have more time to increase their numbers (and our problems) before the coldness of winter sets in. Once the weather starts to turn the flies will make their way into the building to the warmth and safety of our lofts. It is important to stop these flies in their tracks before they become a reoccurring problem each year.

Please see our fly page for more information or call 0800 0854460.

Pest Problems in September

PEST PROBLEMS FOR SEPTEMBER 2011

Cluster Flies are the main problem in the month of September around the country. Enquires from domestic premises this month has been on the increase and this is partly down to the weather, mainly the “Indian Summer” which has descended upon us. Cluster Flies would usually appear around late fall or early winter and again on sunny days, hence the reason why they have been on the increase. Cluster flies can be found hibernating within your loft space and usually appear in the home buzzing sluggishly around windows or in rooms which are not regularly used, they will also appear in small groups.

For further information please visit our Flies section within our website or call us on 0800 0854460.
