Dealing with Fleas: Why Quick Action Matters

Dealing with Fleas: Why Quick Action Matters

At Millennium Pest Control Limited, we know how quickly a small flea problem can turn into a serious infestation. Fleas are more than just a nuisance. If left untreated, they can cause long-term discomfort for both humans and pets. Their bites often lead to itching that can persist for weeks and in some cases, cause infections that may require medical care.

Both cat and dog fleas can trigger skin problems and even respiratory issues in people, especially those who are sensitive or have allergies. Pets will continue to suffer for as long as fleas are present, making early intervention essential for their wellbeing too.

If you suspect fleas in your home, it is important to act quickly. Our professional flea treatments are designed to break the flea lifecycle, eliminate active pests and prevent the problem from coming back.

To get the best results from our treatment, a few steps must be taken before we arrive:

Carpeted areas need to be thoroughly hoovered, and hoover bags should be disposed of straight away. Any pets must be treated for fleas at the same time, with suitable products from your vet. Wash all pet bedding on a hot 60 degree cycle or dispose of it completely. Pay extra attention to the areas where your pets sleep, and clean those spaces well.

Please also remove clothing and items from underneath beds, and ensure we have clear access to all wall to floor joins. These hidden spots are where fleas tend to hide and stay dormant, so we must be able to treat every crack and crevice.

You will need to leave the property during the treatment, and for four hours afterwards while it dries.

In the days that follow, you may still see a few fleas. This is normal. We recommend hoovering again five days after treatment to reactivate the chemical and draw out more fleas. Regular hoovering after this will help bring dormant fleas to the surface and also remove any remaining eggs lodged in carpets.
